Organise your work

Let structure emerge as your board grows. A simple layout, a few clear tags and an occasional due date can make ideas easier to follow without turning every thought into a task.

What you’ll learn

  • How to arrange a board.
  • When to use colour and when to use a label.
  • How tags and due dates work.
  • What to expect when something changes or is deleted.

Arrange the board

Boards use a grid or columns, depending on the template. You can reorder sticky notes in their current row and, in a column layout, move them between columns.

Arranging a sticky note changes only its position, order or column. It does not change authorship or give you permission to edit another author’s text, colour, tags or due date. The Owner, Participants and signed-in Post-link contributors can arrange notes while they have contribution access.

Blank and Brainstorm begin as grids and can later change to columns. Retro, Kanban and Week planner begin with columns. Choose from nine backgrounds to give the board a look that fits the work.

Use colour for expression

Choose colours to add expression or make a board feel like your own. StickyNotes.club does not give colours a fixed meaning for status, priority or category.

Your group can agree on a colour convention. When the meaning matters, add a visible tag or label too, so nobody has to rely on colour alone.

Tags help you bring related sticky notes together and filter a private board.

A sticky note can have several tags. Tags automatically become lower case and are available only inside their board. Participants and signed-in Post-link contributors can create tags and apply them to sticky notes they authored. Only the author can change the tags attached to their sticky note.

You cannot merge tags. Changing a tag on your sticky note does not change another author’s note.

Tags are not available on a board itself, a worldwide-wall Draft, a Public sticky note or an Instant Photo.

Add a due date when timing matters

A sticky note on a private board can have one optional due date. After the date passes, the sticky note shows a red clock icon and the expired date.

Only the sticky note’s author can add, change or remove its due date. The Owner may arrange or delete another author’s note, but cannot change its due date.

Use it as a visual reminder to pay attention. A due date does not:

  • assign the sticky note to someone;
  • send an email or another notification;
  • turn the sticky note into a task;
  • add a due-date filter; or
  • expire or delete the sticky note.

Due dates are not available on boards, worldwide-wall Drafts, Public sticky notes or Instant Photos.

Keep the current state clear

StickyNotes.club keeps the current accepted value of a sticky note, colour, tag or due date. There is no edit history or earlier version to restore.

Delete outdated content only when you are sure nobody needs it. After confirmation, sticky-note deletion is immediate and permanent. Its comments, hearts and dot votes are deleted too.

Good to know

  • A board can grow as you add material.
  • A sticky note cannot be assigned to a person. Use a mention to draw a current Participant’s attention.
  • Tags and due dates belong only to sticky notes on private boards.
  • You cannot duplicate or archive a whole board as an ordinary board action.
